In a couple of days we ring in the new year. Hope the bells on Monday (or do they ring Tuesday?) are not as loud as the ones below.

Not sure my ears have ever recovered from standing underneath the cast iron clock tower at Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron. The museum calls it a chime, but I think it is best described as a dong! If you would like to hear its ‘chime’ then pop across to the aptly named ‘Eight Seconds‘. If you do visit I suggest you turn the volume up loud. That way you will ‘enjoy’ the true experience!
For whom the bell tolls…

I miss hearing the bells chime in Ludlow. Though I wouldn’t want to stand too close to them.

Ludlow’s are definitely chimes unlike these monsters!

Definitely more dong than chime!
Makes a great and vocal timesquare.
I’ve gone for capturing a fun moment – and yes, he seemed to enjoy dong it as much as passers by enjoyed watching him. https://travelwithintent.com/2018/12/29/oman0al-sawadi-beach-fisherman-a-moment-in-time

It is such a dong isn’t it . . . not sure why on earth the museum describes them as chimes!

Love the shot, Becky, but I don’t feel entirely secure standing there looking up. 🙂 🙂 Happy Saturday!

I have an LP by an English band called Family called Fearless with a quote ” This album is dedicated to all the people who have pulled strokes for or against us, for they shall be called fearless” Underneath is a cartoon of a dog? with a speech bubble saying “Daft I call it”

I think it was Vanilla Fudge who did a song called For Whom the Bell Tolls or maybe Savoy Brown?
