At the time it was the bird I was attempting to photograph, not the roof!
If you have not yet joined in #JuneSquares, I’d be delighted if you did. It is a daily challenge for the whole of June, but feel free to post alternate days, once a week or as and when the roof strikes you. The theme is roof (or roofs or rooves) and there is only one rule that cannot be broken. Your main photograph must be a square. Everything else though is up to you, after all this is a roofing adventure not a competition with rules.
I like you liking the birds.

You are finding some fabulous roofs. Loving today’s collection.
Apologies again I haven’t left a comment on your post. Still having access problems down here in Somerset. Back in Winchester soon though so hopefully can start leaving comments at weekend.

Birds on roofs, now why didn’t I think of that? None as exotic as yours though, Jackdaw, Magpie, Chaffinch… Oh and starlings. But I have already posted that one.

in case you want a look. Not a square though, the square today will be of a place all too familiar with you. I think.

Oh what a stunning capture of the starlings. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Fabulous square from you. Didn’t quite see the wonderful angle you captured but the roof and calçada portuguesa are very familiar 😀

A wall roof – love it! Today my ‘roofs’ are more of an absence than a presence 🙂

I just realised I said exactly the same thing about your last photo. You are finding some ingenious ways to showcase your roofs.

Kevin is far too nice a name for him. He’s got rather dramatic hunting and eating habits! Saw somewhere once the name ‘Vlad the Impaler’ which is probably more appropriate!!

OH dear. Do you know the species?

I was so intrigued by them in Portugal I did lots of reading up and was somewhat taken aback by their use of spikes!

But what is their name?

This one is a Grey Shrike. They have a beautiful song but have this habit of impaling prey on spikes.
LikeLiked by 1 person
The same as our Butcher Birds. The song is captivating and different in every region but their eating habits are questionable

Just found a post which says Grey Shrikes are the old world’s ‘Butcher Bird’!
