My first week of #JuneSquares was nearly all glass, as we enter our second week I am focused on memories. Yesterday we were in TaviraTavira, today it’s a walk with friends in Yorkshire. That’s what I love about scheduling photographs for a month long challenge, it makes me go back through the archives. And delving into the archives has made me a little creative today. You are going to need to imagine the roof in this one!
To make up for my absent roof I thought today I would share with you my first collation of #RoofSquares. Please note you are going to need a very large cup of tea or coffee for this one, you may even need to save it for the weekend!
- I certainly didn’t expect kayaks on a roof or crowns nor was I expecting a roof to wiggle!
- I hoped there might be beauty and fabulous carvings but wasn’t expecting to look down on a Royal Palace!
- I know sometimes it is difficult to create squares, but where there is a will there is always a creative way.
- I have so enjoyed the peace created by some roofs, and also the lack of air conditioning units!
- There have been beautiful Victorian roofs, wonderful copper domes, and tin roofs in Mexico
- This incredible church roof was something else and this putative roof an utter joy
- We’ve discovered gorgeous roofs under repair, ones that are just a roof, and sculptures on the rooves
By the way if you are wondering if the list is longer than usual for the first week, you’d be right. At the last count (if the pingbacks have behaved correctly) there were 35 of us in the square movement this month. How incredible is that! But let us continue . . . . . .
- As you might expect we have travelled around the world, and there have been wonderful cityscapes and fabulous circular roofs.
- Less expected have been the fog, the holes, the hoist, and crane!
- One of my joys has been seeing the modern and old juxtapositions, many with reflections
- I have smiled quite a bit this week thanks to views from the roof, gardens on roofs and Jo managing to join in on her travels
- I am going to finish with a plea, does anyone have a great photo of the Hampton Court chimneys? Jude has some extraordinary ones in Norfolk and Liz shared a fabulous Algarvian one, but Kaz (who Jude and I joined on the beach for cocktails) fancies seeing the chimneys at Hampton Court again. Can anyone oblige?
Whilst we await Hampton Court I must say thank you to you all, what inspiring and creative photographers you all are. Here’s to the rest of June 🙂
This look like fun but will come back later with more time.

Ha! You beat me to the roofless roof. I nearly posted views of Wenlock Priory. Great minds! Anyway I remembered you’d had a good day out at Ironbridge so thought you’d like to be kept up to speed with the restoration work on the bridge: https://tishfarrell.com/2018/06/08/rooftops-galore-in-the-severn-gorge-even-the-worlds-first-cast-iron-bridge-has-one/

I love the idea of a roofless roof! I have many of those too!
But today I am sharing a very ornate roof.

Loving your exotic roof today. Not sure what the monks of Fountains Abbey would have had to say about the George’s pavilion!

Forgot to say, great round-up. I am trying to visit links each day, but some get posted after my visit to your post so it is nice to catch up. A lot of work for you though!

I might have to copy Anabel’s method and do a collage post once a week.

You’re definitely forgiven for the missing roof, Becky. Beautiful shot.
And thanks for the roundup – I’m halfway there and will be back to enjoy the rest later.

And so glad you like the shot. It’s such a great Abbey.

I guessed Fointains Abbey before I looked at your tag as I have a very similar picture way back on my blog. Haven’t been through your roundup yet, but I gather from the pingback I am in their somewhere – thanks! Something new coming up shortly.

I do have Hampton Court chimneys from predigital days Becky but I’m too far from home to hunt and scan I’m sure someone will beat me to it. Looking up through a skylight at blue sky in Krakow. Thanks for the mention. Will catch up when I can xx

PS Kaz and I might be knocking on your door on your return for those chimneys!
