I have no idea where the time has gone since we returned from Portugal. Life has been impossibly busy. This busy life is mostly great fun and there have been lots of smiles over the past few weeks, but I do desperately need some head space. Fingers crossed my life balance will return in the next few weeks and I can spend some time simply looking out over rooftops and finding the shoes for the wedding!

Yup that is a square photo and so this is an obscure hint for June’s daily square challenge. As always in this daily challenge there is one rule that cannot be broken your main photograph must be a square. But after that it is up to you how you interpret the theme, and even how often you post. After all this is an adventure not a competition with rules. Daily posts would be fabulous though. Now don’t panic I am not going to leave it here with such an obscure hint on the theme. Drum roll please!

The theme for June Squares is ROOFS (or rooves if you prefer!). Your roof can be;

  • any type, any condition, any size, and in any location.
  • it could be a shot across rooftops, of one roof or even a macro
  • you might prefer to spend some time under the eaves and in the attic, or like me today enjoy the view from above

However you interpret I cannot wait to see. The Cathedral from St GilesI will post daily as this is a daily challenge, but feel free to post alternate days, once a week or as and when the roof strikes you. I will as always be scheduling from my archives as it is the only way I can manage a daily challenge. My posts will appear early morning (BST) with the tag #RoofSquares, and I will do my best to visit your posts daily and accept pingbacks quickly.

Hope this all makes sense but drop me a line if you have any queries or just want to say hi. In the meantime have a fabulous Six Word Saturday, and do hope you enjoy finding your square eyes again. March Squares was so much fun, I am hoping June Squares will be too. See ya all on Friday 1st June 😀

    1. I was amazed when I started going through my archives. More there than I envisaged. So you might find the same. And remember not just buildings that have roofs!

  1. I recognise that view, I posted it too! Funny, I didn’t remember ever going up St Giles Hill before, but when we got home I found an old album and there it was – one of those tiny square instamatic photos. I still don’t remember being there.

Interesting theme, if I wasn’t chasing my own tail I would join in! Maybe I will on the odd day. I don’t know when rooves changed to roofs. In terms of pronunciation I used to say the former but now say the latter – I thought it might be an English / Scottish thing.

A wedding, how lovely. Good luck on the shoe hunt!

    1. I’d posted it about half hour before I read your lovely post and thought ahha I recognise that view! I’d love to see your instamatic photo.

It is intriguing how words change. I use both pronunciations but have a fondness for rooves!

      1. It looks much the same! Strangely, I only seem to have taken a handful of photos that whole year, plus there are a few that other people have obviously given me. Because I didn’t have a proper camera I remember I bought postcards of views I liked instead. I think they all got thrown out in our last house move, which I regret very much now.

        1. Oh no what a shame about tbe postcards.
I have very few photos from some of my many homes. Guess we all forget to take when we’re living somewhere and of course film was so expensive once.

    1. I agree, and there’s a bench right at the point I took it!

It’s amazing though how few locals and visitors ever make it up this hill. Great way to get your bearings in Winchester.

  3. I was skedaddling down the road when I wrote the above and needed to come back for a proper look. Much appreciated drumroll and I love that top photo. 🙂 🙂 Mr. Grumpy is grass cutting and considering whether he wants to go to Durham when it might be too windy for flying.

      1. There is always that possibility! Nice to see you back here. I figured you were taking a well-earned break from blogging, but it seems you have been busy doing other things. Enjoying the English spring?

        1. No I don’t think I have actually told anyone here in our lovely bloggers world.
My eldest stepdaughter got engaged in the new year, and is getting married at the end of this month. There are two ceremonies so i get to have two dresses 😀
the shoes though is probably going to stress me – need height, ultra prettiness and comfort. Think I might be after too much from a shoe!!

        1. I’ll start dress shopping in August/September when the new summer stock is in the shops. We don’t need to do much planning. They are doing it all and pretty much have it organised. It’s going to be lovely.

      1. I’m trying to write a post, but getting distracted by catching up! It happens so easily. My worry (or excuse!) is that is our small town, we don’t have a lot of rooves, or high points to look at said rooves. But I will explore! Its always fun to look at things differently!

    1. I think I prefer the archaic spelling of rooves as it is how I pronounce it most of the time!!

and yes sorry I haven’t given you all more time, been meaning to write this post for over a week now. Still Rome was built in a day, so in six days . . . . . . . .
